Backsberg is a family-owned wine estate in the Paarl and Franschhoek area of South Africa, operating since 1916 and now in its fifth generation of family ownership. The estate has shifted from earlier mixed farming (fruit, grapes and livestock) to a focus on winemaking, and it runs a tasting room in the Franschhoek Valley. It is described as South Africa's first certified carbon-neutral winery.
